A Small But Mighty Farm

Let’s face it.

Current food and farming systems are failing people and the planet. At Old North Acres, we're leaning on the wisdom of generations of holistic farmers and indigenous groups to regenerate one small corner of the earth.

We hope you'll join us!

Why Heritage Breeds?

Our future depends on it. Many industrial farms raise one, genetically selected breed of chickens, cattle and pigs. However, we know that operating a diversified livestock farm is our best chance to build a stable, bio-diverse food chain that is resilient to environmental changes.

To be a heritage breed on the Livestock Conservancy’s list means that the breed is on the verge of extinction. Since they are not over-bred and genetically modified, heritage breeds are hearty, disease resistant and smart, among many other strengths.

Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.
